alright. say you want a decent system, not amazing, but a pretty solid system, so were gonna pick some alpine products.

cda-105 headunit: 180$
4 type-s coax speakers: 120$
mrp-f300 amp (4-channel, speakers): 180$
12" type-r sub: 130$
mrp-m500 (mono, sub): 180$

so that's your basic products you would get. pretty good quality stuff, especially the speakers. that part itself will come around to 800$. (these prices are based off of sonicelectronix.com). given you dont know how to do an install, you will have to take this to your local audio shop to have done. my place charges 50$ an hour, and this would probably take them 3ish hours to do, so add another 150$. also, it would be smart to get a custom box, because a box can make or break your system. you could get a single 12" prefab box for like 80$, but if you want quality bass, spend the extra money to get a custom one. wiring and install kits for all of this is probably going to come out to another 150$. and also, you definitely shouldnt buy from best buy. their products are incredibly overpriced (and limited), and they arent nearly as knowledgable as an audio shop is.

so in conclusion, you are probalby going to have to spend about 1200$ for a solid system like this. it is easy enough for you to downgrade products though, because alpine is a relatively expensive company (you surely get what you pay for though). this is just a pretty good foundation system, but if you wanted you could definitely add for example another type r 12 and get the mrp-m1000 amp instead, but that would bump you up another 300$.

whatever you end up choosing, good luck man. hope you're satisfied with whatever you get.
