stereo overheated and no longer turns on?

hey i have an audiovox 5cd changer stereo... it no longer will get power and the display screen will not even light up anymore. it was playing for a few hours and i came back and it was really warm and smelled like something was getting really warm. do you think its completely shot or do u think there is something that can be done
