Stereo mix works fine when my default playback device is set to speakers and headphones. But when I switch it to HDMI the stereo mix does not pick up any sound. I want to set the recording device to stereo mix and then output milkdrop visualisation (playing linein://) and the audio to an HD tv with iTunes playing the music on my laptop monitor. This all works in theory (I've tested it without outputting sound through HDMI), but this problem stuffs it up.

Laptop model: HP Dv6 3006tx
Windows 7 64bit
Graphics card (which is what the HDMI plugs into) ATI mobility Radeon HD 5650
Dont have a sound card (im fairly sure)
HDMI playback driver: ATI High Definition Audio Device (version 5.0.7000.9 (latest))
Stereo Mix driver: IDT High Definition Audio CODEC (version 6.10.6289.0 (latest))
Any help is appreciated.
