Stephen Kings Remakes

The rumor went mad i think it was either last year of just afew months back. The news said that Salems Lot, Pet Semetary and It are getting remade, but my question is when?.

Salem's Lot has been remade and consigned to oblivion already, which is a pity because it was ok.
It was made in Australia with Rob Lowe, Rutger Hauer, Donald Sutherland and James Cromwell.
The performers and fx were all vastly superior to Tobe Hooper's version but it wasn't quite as creepy.

I think the IT remake has fallen through now, no more. Pity because the ending was terrible in the original, they were going to change it and also concentrate from another characters point of view in the remake. The female character I think, can't remember her name.

Pet Semetery is still getting a remake as far as I know.

As for release dates or start of production, I don't think there is anything official yet.

your question shouldn't be when it should be WHY!!!
the studios are ripping you off. we're talking about movies that were only made a few years ago. the studios have no new ideas and are just getting money for old rope. remakes what a scam!!!

Awww, how i loved 'It' (fell asleep when i first watch it, had the most horrible dream about killer clowns and am still scared of clowns to this day... but i still think its a brilliant film!) and 'Pet Semetary'- that scene at the end when you see that knife go right into that guys ankle!! and the song by The Ramones? It doesn't get any better!

The Salems lot remake was on Sci Fi recently and was diabolically awful in my opinion, as was the original IT mini-series. A waste of two good books, although doing justice to IT would probably require a multi-million dollar three hour epic.

Apparently they are planning to film some more SK books - Desperation is in post production, the Talisman, Bag of Bones and the Girl who Loved Tom Gordon. I am dreading the Bag of Bones version as it is one of my favourite books! As long as the never do Insomnia and The Dark Tower books I'll be happy!

I hated IT. Well no not so much hated as it freaked the crap out of me.

I watched it with my sister when we were about 10 and just at the part when the it turns into a giant spider a massive spider (im not exagerrating it was almost tarrantula sized..well atleast it seemed that way to a 10 year old) started to crawl over the TV.

We completely freaked out   needless to say i am now completely petrafied of spiders

King himself has already stated that the DT books will never be filmed (I think he may have added an 'unless they can be done exactly as he wants them done')

I suppose it must've been; it certainly never made it to the big screen.
Unlike Tobe Hooper's version, this one didn't really look like a tv movie. :)

The only film of a Stephen King story I have really enjoyed is "The Green Mile", which was pretty well done. Other than that, they're usually pretty useless, sadly. (And I know it was a TV series but Kingdom Hospital was pretty enjoyable).
