Has anyone seen this? I watched it the other day and its a really frightening film. Kathy Bates is truely brilliant in the role of a psycopathic fan of a writer played by James Caan who she has locked up in her house. I especially found frightening the scene where James Caan's foot gets whacked by a hammer. Really painful to see.

Great film overall and one of the best thrillers.

Agreed, great film. A surprisingly good King adaptation. If you thought the film version of the 'hobbling' was painful to watch, you should know that that was a very much toned down version of what happens in the book.

Didn't Kathy Bates win an Best Actress Oscar for this film? If so, she truly deserved it. If not, then she truly should have. She scared the shit out of me!

Paddy :D

I watched it last year during Channel 4's horror season.

I didn't find it very scary but i suppose it wasn't meant to be.

Got my heart pounding fast though everytime she was going to return home..

The end fight is brillant.

Oh Yes!

Read that a good few years ago, and was working nights at the time - came in one morning, not feeling too well ('flu or something) and went to the loo - taking that with me to read.
I got to that bit, and was almost physically sick, I had to put the book down, and go back to it after I'd had a sleep, and was feeling a bit better.
And I have a pretty strong stomach when it comes to stuff like that - but when King goes into graphic detail like that, he has the ability to really hit the spot...................
