I have a question. I have been unable to find anything on the web. Hopefully someone here has some insights.
First of all, i have an extensive medical past. I have been thru 6 spine surgeries in both the cervical and lurabar spine. I have instrumentation in the cervical/thoracic area due to kyphosis and have luraber instrumentation as well in the lurabar spine as well due to a condition known as flatback.
I have other medical issues including diabetes; kidney failure and i was born with one kidney.
Currently i have spinal stenosis of the foramen in the cervical area which has been causing pain in mainly the left shoulder area. I also have lurabar stenosis of the central canal which has caused nurabness in the leg below the knee and also a feeling that my foot is turning rock hard at times. It is relieved somewhat with bed rest. I have tried pool therapy doing excercises in the pool, walking in the pool etc.
With all my medical issues and all the surgeries i have had in the past, first i am concerned about going thru additional surgery.
But i am also concerned that if surgery is not done then what re the long term effects. Wouldn't the stenosis just progress causing more nerve damage. And if so what will the result be in years down the road.
Hope someone can give me their opinion on this. I am seeing an orthepedist on thursday.
Thanks for listening.
