Steering wheel on my 2000 Dodge Dakota makes popping noises when I turn it?

This just started last week. Almost every time I turn the wheel when I turn at a stop sign or stoplight the steering wheel will make a popping noise. If it's a sharp turn it'll pop several times as I turn, then several times as I turn it back to it's regular position. I can even judge when it's going to happen, it happens at the same point every time I turn. What could be the cause and possible solution?
 
You could be feeling the CV joint bearing popping through the steering wheel, if it only does it when moving.

If it was the steering column itself, it will do it standing still.
