I am a Specialist in the Texas National Guard: my unit is situated 346 miles away. I have been trying for two years to get moved to a closer unit but the readiness NCO is not exactly....great. Now that over strength is taking effect (thank you Obama), they are trying to "weed out" undesirable soliders. I cannot afford to drive to my unit every month (hello, 345 miles...in a truck...not exactly cheap). I am a single female who owns her house and goes to school. When forced to make the decision, I chose to pay my mortgage instead of driving out to the unit. I had been drilling with a nearby unit, which was fine unit this month, for some reason....now the commanders wants to put me out and treat me like garbage...what can I do? I love being in the guard, I can pass the PT test, and I am not a "loser soldier" (drinking, drugs, ect.....) Anyone?? Also, if anyone has the information as to where I could find the number to the Family Readiness group in San Antonio for the C 449th
