Stay out of Newport RI

I'm from Newport moved to NH 24 years ago, I go back several times a year with NH plates, in fact going next weekend. Its a great ride and a great place to ride around. I never had a problem and still don't to this day. If your not trying to draw attention to yourself no one bothers you.
Its just like any small tourist town, when there are that many people on foot and people hanging out at the shops window shopping which by the way are right on the street or hanging out at the beach, they don't want loud bikes disturbing the peace of those spending money at the shops. Every little sea side town is like that. Even the ones off the coast in MA and Maine. Just keep the decibels down and no one looks twice at you.

Yea, the guy probably should have cut you a break. You guys put your life on the line for us and I for one am grateful. Every occupation has it's share of jerks, yours no exception. Man up and pay the fine...you did speed. Maybe you can give some poor sucker a break at some point and the karma gods will smile down on you the next time.

I've lived in New England my whole life and very rarely venture to RI...Newport is exactly as described....little touristy town that loud bikes or cars probably aren't too welcome in. One visit was enough for me...everything I need in New England I can find right here in NH..great riding, mountains and if you need an ocean fix for whatever reason you have Hampton Beach and the Maine coast not too far away.

Won't bitch about LEO's giving each other breaks BUT...
The phrase "Equal Treatment Under the Law" does come to mind here!
Don't really have an issue with the brotherhood and all that but as a sworn officer isn't your first and foremost duty to uphold the law as written?
I have quite a few friends in law enforcement in various organizations (i.e., troopers, DNR, local sheriff and PD) but anyone of them would cut you a ticket while on duty in a heartbeat, badge holder or not.
They would however do it with a smile and not get all self righteous about it.

I never even heard of an EPA stamp! I guess I have one on my new FatBoy, but in a month of ownership, I haven't seen it. What does it prove and where is it located?

Too bad...Newport is "reachable" for me as a 1 day ride and was on a "to do" list one day. If I want to get hassled for no reason, I can do that locally...
