I know that the probability that y has a mean of 5 and a standard deviation of 0.5. i find that the probability of y being 6 or greater is 0.00228(using the normal..z-score of 2). If later I observe that y is greater than 6 forty times in 1000(prob 0.04) and I don't know the standard deviation or mean of the latter observation, how can I tell whether the mean has changed? How can I set a hypothesis about this?
