stationary bike vs. treadmill?

Which is more effective?? I usually do about 15 min- 25 min on the bike every morning, and it says im doing about 3.5 miles for 15 mins and 5 miles for 25 mins. i dont like the treadmill seeing i had ankle surgery and it hurts to put alot of force on it so bike is easiest and fastest for me. but i want to do what will make me loose fat. which is better????? :) thanks!!!!!!
 
if the treadmill is causing you pain, then it is clearly the worse option. Pain is your body telling you to stop doing something, so no treadmill.

Try performing intervals, for example;

Warm up - 5 minutes
Sprint - 60 seconds
Recovery Pace - 120 seconds
Repeat for 4-5 rounds (as your body and lungs say is OK)
Cool Down - 5 minutes
