State trooper joke & real story?

A woman in Missouri gets pulled over for speeding. The state trooper walks up with his ticket book in hand, & the woman says, "Let me guess, you're gonna sell me a ticket to the Missouri state trooper's ball." The state trooper answers, "Ma'am, Missouri state troopers don't have balls." Upon hearing what he had just said, he hangs his head, closes his ticket book, & walks back to his car.
 
I liked the joke but why did the tropped walk away cause the women who got pulled over was ugly? Well anyways great joke.
