Been riding pretty consistently and I'm in pretty decent shape...but I am a complete noob starting to think about racing. I've also been riding group rides pretty consistently as well... I have a few questions and hopefully someone will be kind enough to solve my mysteries:

1. What do I need to do to enter a cat 5 race or ANY race to start out? If I need to purchase a license from USAC, how long is that duration? and how much is that license fee?

2. Are foreigners allowed to race? I'm not a US native, holds a European passport but is a resident of the US. Am I eligible?

3. Is purchasing the license the only thing I need to do to enter road bike races?

Thanks for the help, any tips will be helpful.

go to USA cycling.com and get a liscense. You can get one for if your not from the USA, that is not a problem. listen, i"m going to be to the point, but if you really want to do well, (and don't expect immediate results), GET A COACH! Your liscense will be good till the end of the year. price isn't that bad but if you race a ton gas and race fees get expensive. get in a race ASAP, and don't make my mistake, just have fun and don;t be too competitive for the first season. Enjoy yourself, get a coach, (trust me), but you will do fine anyways. Enjoy
