I'm leaving my old job--new management structure and poor growth opportunity. I got a great new position--more money and responsibility. However, I wanted to be fair so I gave two weeks notice to wrap everything up. My new employer, however, is chafing. He wants to speak to me daily even before I leave--fine. I even met with him in person once during the "notice period." Now, he's asking for more meetings.
He is in no way a competitor with my old employer, so that's not the issue. However, I feel I owe my old place my full time and attention these last two weeks--I am a manager and have always given extra, not the standard 9-5. Am I being overly honorable? Is my future boss being a little pushy in wanting so much of my time before I'm even on his payroll? I've moved around a number of times over the years, and no other employer has expected so much before the official start date.
