Starting biking again...after the first time, should I wait until my muscles aren't

so sore to go out again...? I've let myself get really out of shape & I just got my bike fixed & want to start riding regularly again. Not only to lose some weight/gain some muscle, but because I love my bike & I've missed it♥. :(

Anyway, I know I'll be pretty sore after my first time out, because I am that much out of shape. As long as I can handle the pain when riding, would it be okay (medically) to go riding again before the initial muscle soreness feels better, or should I wait 2-3 days?
