I'm looking at starting a small business to support the hosting and upkeep of a website devoted to people with rare genetic diseases, www.ptenworld.com. It would also involve raising awareness and support for these diseases. As I am only one person, starting a nonprofit/charity or foundation seems like a huge endeavor, and as I am primarily raising funds through the sale of promotional merchandise starting a small business seemed like a better idea.
Would it be feasible to register a business, Cowden Syndrome Support, based primarily on the sale of promotional items? Would I need to apply for a fundraising license?
