Starting a Honda 200 s?

I've got a trike that kinda starts a little odd... I don't know much about engines and stuff but I was wondering if it starts right. You have to start it while the choke is up... while constantly holding the throdle or else it wont start... then you have to put the choke in the middle to like let it warm up... while still holding the throdle (i'm sorry if I spell that wrong) and then if it dosen't like quit when you release the throdle you can put the choke down... now I was told that running it with the choke all the way up or in the middle buggers up the spark plug... which is true and I was just wondering if this is normal for a trike
