Stargate Infinity

i posted it here because it is the general animation discussion board, and i am looking for people's opinions on it because i forgot it existed and just found out about it again.

It was so far remove from continuity and anything remotely stargate-like it wasn't even on the same side of the MULTIVERSE! Ancients as dragon-like insectoids?!

like undrave said it was not even stargate related.Plus you could not really enjoy it anyway even if you were not a stargate fan.

The show is available on DVD. I picked up the original release from the one dollar bin. They've since released the entire series as a set.

Not a great show and not really related to the movie or the live-action shows. It's set in the future but doesn't really follow what happened in SG-1 at all.

I don't regret spending a dollar on the DVD that I have but I have no plans to buy the whole set.

I know the hope is that a cartoon follow up will be close to the source material and add to it but I actually liked this show. I also liked the Highlander animated series, after you get used to the fact that it's different it might be easier to enjoy.

I can see how most people wouldn't like the show though. My sister is a huge
Stargate fan but I have my doubts that she would like this show.

Think of it as an alternate universe Stargate and it may be easier to swallow the premise of this show.

My apologies, I should not judge a show off just a few episodes. I don't think it bothered me as much that it didn't really follow SG-1, though, as that it was just kind of boring to me. Of course, I've only see three episodes out of twenty-something so my opinion of the show is limited.

I caught most of Stargate: Infinity's run on its original airing; it also happens that at the time I was somewhat acquainted with the writers of a couple of the episodes.

It's certainly accurate to say that S:I was very much sideways to most of mainstream Stargate continuity, but the Stargate universe is big enough that that in itself wasn't a big problem for me.

My problem was with the animation/visual design, which came across as cheap, stiff, and completely wrong for the material. As I recall, it was screamingly pastel throughout, where it badly needed to be higher in contrast and much, much smoother. I don't blame viewers for being frustrated and disappointed with the show. The trouble was that the animation, both in color choice and general quality, was so far out of sync with the writing that it actually got in the way of the storytelling.

Highlander the Animated Serie was outlandish to say the least, but it had a certain style and was well written. It could stand on its own mythology without relying on anything else if you wanted it to.

Stargate Infinity just...wasn't very good even as a stand alone show. Plus it had the downfall of having being made incredibly early in SG-1's life cycle you know? So a lot of stuff happened later on in the real show that would have made the spin off better. It DID have the advantage of more outlandish aliens and less humanoids.

Here's the opening:

Looks more exciting than it was.

I remember watching a couple of eps back when it first aired. At first I was all like "A STARGATE CARTOON? WICKED! 8D" But then I watched it. It made me very sad. :(

I did watch a some episode. Never show that final episode there He had proven his innoccents. They could have improve that animation a bit.

Stargate Infinity was originally acquired from DiC to air on Fox Box as one of the e/i programs. They created 26 episodes, but 4Kids only acquired the first 13. Sure, the plot is different than any other Stargate, but that actually attracted some people like me to it. Unfortanently, due to low ratings 4Kids chose not to purchase the other 13 episodes. Instead, DiC aired them on "The Wonderful World of DiC" weekday syndication block, which was available in most areas on either FOX or WB. My local area happened to be on WB, which I didn't get at the time, hence why I never saw the final 13 episodes. It's a lot like "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" except with a stargate in every episode.
