Stardust

Does anyone know anything about this movie, coming out in August?

It's got an impressive cast- Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro, Peter O' Toole, Claire Danes and Rupert Everett, plus Ian McKellen, Sienna Miller and Ricky Gervais!

I've just seen the trailer, it looks like a good old fashioned fairytale with witches, pirates and so on.

How will it do up against the new Harry Potter and Transformers? Will Jonathon Ross review it (his wife wrote the screenplay!)?

I sort of stumbled upon the trailer and was quite impressed. I'm properly guna see it . I think it will will perform averagly at the box office.

Don't expect your usual run of the mill fantasy from Stardust, being a Neil Gaiman creation it'll (hopefully) be marvelously layered with a wicked sense of humour, and if the book is anything to go by it won't dissappoint. The film was originally due an earlier release but the studio saw so much potential that they pushed the release back to compete with the big boys.

I've seen it already, the trailer was too long and showed a lot of the film plot. Looks a bit like live action version of Corpse Bride to me, so won't be going to see this at the cinema.

No I haven't see the completed film, but considering that a trailer is supposed to give you a 'feel' or tease you with the film and this hasn't done that. So I'd say yes I have seen enough to base an opinion as to whether I would see it or not. Its Princess Bride meets the Witches of Eastwick with a dash of Snow White and the annoying Dwarf (Gervais).

There was just way too much info in the trailer for me to be impressed with it now, best trailer I have seen recently is Transformers, Sunshine or previous to that Godzilla.

I thought Stardust was only released in America in August as both the BBC and Empire website have Stardust to be released in the UK on the 19th October!
I really want to see it after watching the trailer but I cant believe we have to wait that long to watch it. I dont know why union_jak said Stardust would be up against Tranformers and Harry Potter if it is was released in August as both those films are released in July. Anyway I was suprised to read that Layer Cake director Matthew Vaughn directed Stardust!

I didn't mean the film is directly running against Transformers and Harry Potter, I don't know what it it'll be against. They were just the expected summer blockbusters I could think of, and will undoubtably still be in the cinema in August. Obviously if it comes out in October in the UK it'll have less of a challenge.

The biggest summer clash will be Spider-Man 3, Shrek The Third, Pirates 3, Fantastic Four 2 and The Simpsons Movie
But that's for another thread...!

having read the book and seen the trailer (and heard Neil Gaimans own thoughts) i have to say that the trailer gives the overall theme of the film but doesnt give anything of the intracities of the plotline(s) away at all.... its alot more complex than boy goes to find star thats really a girl.
