Ive never seen any of the films and keep meaning to do it. But what i want to know is what order do you guys recommend i watch them in? The order they were released or the actual chronological order of the story?

I can't believe there are people who haven't seen at least the first three

Anyway I vote for order they were released (and don't bother with the final three :D)

I would go with release order. But I have also watched them in chronological.

At least if you watch them chronologically you save the best for last. Mind you watching 1-3 might turn you off completely. :D

I tried to get the missus into Star Wars, but made the horrible mistake of watching them numerically. A quarter the way through The Phantom Menace she asked me to turn it off, and we've never watched one since. Shame.

Watch them from IV-VI then I-III is my advice.

The story must be watched 4,5,6,1,2,3. It really doesn't work the other way (plot twists in 5 and 6 are completely blown if you watch the prequels first).

Cheers for the replies, order they were released it is then!! Are they majorly long? I didnt realise there were so many, i intended to watch them all in one day and have a bit of a film fest

Definately agree with this.....i was really disappointed in 1, 2and 3.....think Georgie Lucas lost his way a bit on these ...especially in some of the casting of the actors/actresses.

I still rate 4, 5 and 6 as THE best movies of all time...

I like watching them 1-6 , i think the first three are good fun , yeah the dialogue is mind sapping in parts & the inability of George Lucas to coax the performances out of the leaRAB is all to aparent , but they are still good to watch. I think Phantom Menace tees it all up nicely , Attack Of the Clones is quite strong & Revenge Of The Sith is superb.

:)

The movies are so wrong on so many levels. :D

They felt totally un-Star Wars as so many things don't fit the universe.

The Ewoks can speak, yet by the time they meet the Rebellion in Return of the Jedi they seem to have lost the ability.

Endor is a much bigger place, with many other creatures. Yet in Return of the Jedi it is a relatively small moon.

Witchcraft? WTF? That just doesn't seem right in the Star Wars universe. Sort of diminishes the power of the Force.
