Just saw a review for the DVD set Coming Soon!.net Review of Star Wars Trilogy

Not content with changing the originals for the VHS release he's done it again with the DVD release.

A few changes include a new CGI Jabba. Boba Fett's voice changed, Ian McDiarmid is now the emporer and yes, Hayden Christensen does appear at the end of Jedi as a ghost, not Sebastian Shaw (although Shaw is still the one unmasked in ROTJ, albeit without eyebrows now).

The review seems to be good but seems to be sugar coated regarding the changes, though some might be good (if Jabba looks that big why would anyone want to be so close up to him?)

So what are your thoughts on the changes / screen caps / review and have you already pre-ordered your copies?

Oh and, so this means, the original trilogy that I grew up with and love is gone for good? You'll only be able to get copies off ebay or something? Sorry but that's just terrible.

Personally, in principle, I don't have a problem with some changes being made. Beefing up effects like Mos Eisley, or extra x-wing/stormtroopers... The things that have obviously bugged Lucas since he didn't didn't have the money or the technology wasn't there to realise his dream.

The changes are a bit of a mixed bag though... Some I think are sensible... like adding in Ian McDiarmid, changing Boba Fett/stormtrooper's voices, adding Naboo. Really not a major problem for me, and just help the continuity. There are a few things I'm not happy with... I'm a bit upset Greedo still shoots first... And I'm really not sure about adding Hayden at the end... now if you could go through all the movies and digitise Hayden out for someone that could actually act... That'd be good. :D ;)

Had my copy pre-ordered since May :)

Greddo almost doesn't shoot first. Han and greedo's shoots go off at almost the same time.

Or an even better answer, instead of just shurgging your shoulders, say "for crying out loud George Lucas" and finally buy the DVRAB of the movies you've always wanted even if they have good and bad changes.

Lets be honest, Lucas has made his money....so why bother changing them? he could have just put exactly the same film on dvd, made more money and been happy.

The people that get annoyed about these things need a life. I've like the series of films, and have seen them loaRAB, but i doubt id notice most of the changes, as will most normal people.

I bet most them go to the pub of a weekend wearing stormtrouper undies under their clothes and stuff.........then go home and do wierd things with a lightsaber :)

Lucas made his money long ago; however Fox no doubt just want more and more!
And of course, Lucas IS a business man that heaRAB his own great company.
It's always a good thing when a director guarantees studios with certain guaranteed cash flow.

That's a bit harsh, I think those who are complaining arent going "This is an outrage!!!!", they dont care if thing are made better like the corridor white spot or getting rid of the english but things like getting the young anakin at the end of the movie instead of the old version. You can't expect everyone to go quietly on that, shrug their shoulder, why shouldnt they say "hangon, why did he feel the need to do that?"

honestly dont assume people are getting ticked off over minor things, but big changes that make a difference in the film. I would prefer voices stay the same as well.
