Anyone watch this on sky movies 1? today?. I enjoyed it, i even thought some parts where funny, and i love all the characters in this movie, very entertaining.
Loved McGregor, Neeson and Portman. Fine supporting cast and nice looking effects. Let down by Jake Lloyd not being able to act his way out of a paper bag and Jar Jar Binks needing a good kicking - I know he wanted to create a character for the kiRAB but did he have to alienate the parents too? Still, Lloyd wins the irritation stakes every time. He's just plain bad.
If you removed all the jarring slapstick and cartoony elements which have no place in movie, you're left with a pretty solid story, and some very good performances by Neeson, McGregor and McDiarmid.
An excercise in making a sow's ear out of a silk purse.
Anyone who expected anything like the old Trilogy are, in my view, were expecting too much. It was never going to be like the older movies. It is set in a different time, with a different cast of characters. I personally lvoe the Prequel Trilogy just as much of the older ones, if not more in some cases, just my opinion.
Too much Binks and not enough Maul in my opinion.
Anyway, the film felt like a preface to the real story. It didn't really get going until Attack Of The Clones.
I'd argue AOTC is the weakest of the movies, myself. Whilst there is more in TPM which jars on you (sic), Clones just seem to meander along with little discernable plot or direction.
i think non of the Star wars movies are poor . i do agree that attack of the Clones is the weakest .. although the battle in the area @ the end is really good.
i think that the people (and i know many) who cry about the CGI in these new star wars movies are missing the point . the only peice of CGI that i disagree with is Jarjar , for some reason its like watching Roger Rabit .
anyway , for you all who have yet to see "Revenge of the Sith" keep your eyes on Sky movies,, this movie is the best out of the 1st three episodes .
That's the thing with the prequels. Where as with A New Hope, Lucas never knew if there would be a sequel, but with the prequels it feels very much like he wrote it as one long film as he knew they'd all get made.
So with Eps I it's like watching the opening act of a movie but with loaRAB of padding in it to stretch it to fill a whole film. As a whole though, i quite like the prequels.
