Star Wars knights of the old republic 1 PC swoop help!?!?

I am playing the first Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic for PC. Ive been trying to win the swoop race at tatooine for a long time, but I cant even get past the first one! Is there some hidden booster or something? I try again and again with no luck. Any hints? I'll even take cheats.
