Star Wars fans Lucas taking us for a ride?

I am a Star Wars fan but this Clone Wars cartoon that is out in two weeks will go into the same hole as the Ewok films.

How do others feel about Lucas putting out such rubbish?

I think it looks pretty good!

Not sure if it warrants a film, but it'd make a smashing TV series, which is handy because that's what it'll be soon.

I'm not really a Star Wars fan but I thought the first 2 Star Wars movies were classics,ROTJ was fun.

But I think it's time he let this franchise go now.

I can't really judge it until I've seen it, tho I'm not a massive fan of animation. Any idea how the animation will look? Is it Beowulf-esque or Cartoon Network-esque?

I've seen the trailer for the film a while ago, got to say I wasn't too thrilled by what I saw.

It's quite beyond me as to why he's doing all this to be honest. I think he's in danger of washing the whole franchise right down the plug-hole with all these spin oRAB.

He just can't leave it alone. Of course, by the time he's completed the live TV series I'm pretty sure he'll go on to make episodes 7,8 & 9 but by that time will anyone still be interested? I doubt whether I will.

I've been viewing this who project with low expectations, but after seeing the Comic-con clip, I'm on board. It seems to have much of Genndy Tartakovsky's beautify "hyper-real" style, with some of the nicer elements of the prequel visuals.

Newest trailer (3)

I may be a cynical-30 something Star Wars fan, but having seen the new trailer and the Comic-con footage (and being perfectly aware that it's kinda "youngster friendly"), I'm in.

Do people have nothing better to do in their lives than bitch about Star Wars? Seems like its the "cool" thing to do, but seriously, it's not 2002 anymore, and its really boring. If you don't like it, don't watch it, move on with your lives.

This is aimed at the new generation of fans, and I can imagine myself as a 8 year old kid being really excited by this. The new series is going to be *really* popular with them, and there have already been massive lines outside of Toys R Us and other shops for the latest action figures.

If you're 40 years old, and tired of the franchise, go sit around a table at your local starbucks and bitch about it to your frienRAB, or whatever it is you old folks do in your spare time :D I'm sure an evening of Andrew Lloyd Webber would cheers you up while we enjoy the new film.

Yeah same for me. I saw a lot more of it on this morning's BBC news in one of those "advertising articles masquerading as news" bits, and have to say it looked absolutely lovely. Much better than what I expected after seeing the shots. I'm a big fan of SW, including the prequels, so I'm well looking forward to this, in spite of being old enough to know better!

Brave attempt there Sly, but the whingers will continue whinging. It's not too bad here actually. Go on IMDb's forums - ouch! Full of Simon Pegg-alikes, all STILL complaining about Jar Jar Binks!

So, is it a follow on from Genndy Tartakovsky' version, or a reworking of it? I heard it was a follow on from his version, but am a little perplexed by the same title...

Timelines wise, it's pretty much set between series 1 and series 2 of the Tartakovsky show.

The title is slightly different, as the GT show was "Clone Wars" and the CGI one is "The Clone Wars".

Like that makes a big difference. ;)

Almost a little pointless then lol

I always said that the Clone Wars should have part of the Ep I - III films instead of all that Ep I crap...would have been far superior...can't understand what Lucas was thinking.

Intial background + Clone Wars + EpIII (with tweaks) would have made a great prequel trilogy!

However, it wasn't to be....Curse you George!!

I much enjoyed Tartakovsky's version and am intrigued by this although the battle droiRAB remain supremely naff bad guys.
Early reviews suggest it looks like just like a TV show that's been ported over to the big screen so maybe I'll wait for the DVD or until next February when it's on TV over here.
Watching the cut scene-like trailers I do feel like I'm watching the intro to a console game!
