Star Wars Episode III

How come Leia can remember her mother when Padme died in Childbirth?

How come Padme lost the "will to live" when she has just had twins and is certain that her husband can be redeemed?

How come the Death Star takes 20 years to build for the first one and only 3 for the second one?

There are lots of errors in there. Mainly because, unless it involves CGI, Lucas couldn't give a ****.

How come Yoda suddenly gets his cloak back when we clearly see it dangle on the pole thing? Did he knit it up on the way to safety?

How come Palpatine's face mongs up with the lightning when Luke's face didn't mong up in ROTJ?

How come Mace Windu had to take time to 'kill' Palpatine? All threats, no action?

Why didn't Anakin have any common sense?

Why?

there's far more plot errors than that but it was bound to happen

the real questions should be

why was TPM so rubbish and what was the point of it ?
why bother with Jar Jar ? note he never really got any lines after the first film
how come if you can't get married if you are a jedi did Annakin get to live with Padme ?
why did he turn to the dark side in 5 seconRAB ?
why did you ruin the trilogy with the new ones you created ?
why can't i watch IV-V in their orig cinema release format anymore ?
how many more times will i have to buy this on DVD, HD, Blue Ray etc ?

George Lucas replies -

Because I'm rich!

According to my calculations, 5,067,454 more times - my Special Un-cut Super Duper Edition DVD is coming out in May!

Because I'm rich!

2.Because Vader/Anakin believes padme to be dead along with the twins so has no reason to go looking, and only realises that luke is who he is towarRAB the end of a new hope(episode IV)

How come Leia can remember her mother when Padme died in Childbirth?

False memory syndrome I guess ;-) Or the force/midichlorians

How come Padme lost the "will to live" when she has just had twins and is certain that her husband can be redeemed?

Coz she can't be around for the sequels!
I loved Yoda's clunky expositional goodbye line - 'Into exile I must go!'

How come the Death Star takes 20 years to build for the first one and only 3 for the second one?

They had had practice! And they didn't have to finish the whole thing, just get the big gun working as the Emperor sort of pointed out in Jedi

There are lots of errors in there. Mainly because, unless it involves CGI, Lucas couldn't give a ****.

He's no screenwriter is all.

oh boy .....

VidKrellUSER
a: no visible signs, eh? large tummy anyone!

b: and the obvious place would be the BEST place to hide him, and the LAST place anyone would look for him!! the real question i would ask is (from episode 4) why was the tantive IV in tatooine space in the first place?? to alert the old obi-wan to help princess leia, that's why! (guess i answered my own question there :p )

Dazballer
a: it wasn't really memory, more of a echo of one, probably from the latent forcepower she has.

b: why she died? probably from the exchange of forceenergy, not to one, but to two babies ..... must take a hell of a lot out of you!!

c: and who says that was the deathstar you see in a new hope? remember the hologram of it in AofC? it had an extra long tower/antenna coming out of the lower hemisphere (i'll check it later from the dvd)

Eaglestriker
a: he has a wardrobe full of them! :D

b: hehe, nice use of the word "mong" there, and his face "mongs" up because of the power he's using to, trying to get mace out of his face ..... literaly!

c: remember what qui-gon jinn said to padme in TPM? "we're keepers of the pease", "i'm here to protect you, not fight a war for you!" there essentially like the UN .....

d: common sense?? how much common sense would you have, protecting the only thing left in your life? you would do absolutely ANYTHING to protect it, wouldn't you?

sherer
a: because people were expecting the same type of style from the prequels, as in the originals! remember obi-wan's line to luke in ANH? "from a more civillised age ....."

b: he may not have the amount of lines as in TPM, but because he is seen as a weak character ..... from paplatine's point of view ..... he is seen as the weak link, and easily manipulated! why do you think it was so easy to get a "suitable" replacement to amidala, to vote for the "grand army of the republic", and make that army OFFICIAL!

c: simple ..... he didn't tell the jedi council!

d: it was simply a choice he made ..... what was more important to him? a group who didn't trust him? or someone who DID??

e: all down to personal opinion, i guess

f: because GL is the first, and only director to "adding to the original story" ..... be it a brave desision, or a naive one, it's still his to make! essentially from the technical advances made between 1983 and 1999!

g: do you want to buy them?

GARETH197901
a: he dosen't belive it, he KNOWS it, thanks to paplatine telling him that at the end of RotS!! the big mouth :D

b: and he certainly DOSEN'T know padme was carrying twins, as she didn't tell him! he only knows because luke couldn't stop himself thinking about it in RotJ ..... the idiot

Granny
"He's no screenwriter is all!" ..... "you can write this stuff, but you can't say it!" credited to harrison ford .....

i hope your all grateful i answered your questions ..... it took bloody long enough to type it out :D

Leia had a step mum maybe she died when she was a kid. Maybe in that galaxy far, far away pregnancy is only 48hours;)

We don't know for sure this was the same Death Star as Episode IV. It may have been a prototype that blew itself up when they tried to fire it. It then took 17 odd years to work out why it failed & correct the problem for the production model!

There's no 'large tummy' when she first tells Anakin, yet this is only days before she gives birth. This is why I asked the question!

And on the contrary, the obvious place would be the first place DV would look.

a: We don't know when it was complete, so we don't know when the first Death Star was finished
b: If technology was always improving, it would have been quicker to build a replacement than to buld the original.

What I don't understand is why the Empire bothered to make a second Death Star when the first had proved to be a disastrous mistake. Shouldn't they have surprised the Rebels with something altogether different

Star Wars fans always fill in the gaps for Lucas. He can turn out crap and people will scramble to rationalise it!

Leia remembering Padme through Force ability? Nah. Luke is a Jedi and doesn't remember a thing.

Padme dying? She lost the will to live because Lucas had a box to tick.

Death Star. Didn't need to be in the prequels at all. Just there for an "oooh look!" moment for the fanboys. Throws up to many questions of logic.

in "empire..." solo says to deck officer "ill see you in hell!!!" so if solo has a belief in hell he must also be aware of the flip side-heaven-right?
how does the force and the dark side-not to mention the jedis supernatural powers fit in with solos beliefs? (then again he is sceptical of "hokey religions" in ep. 4)
regarding the originals-i have them on VHS -the DVD footage at the end of "jedi" does NOT in any way/shape or form fit in with the rest of the movie/trilogy-it sticks out like a sore thumb and should have been a warning sign for things to come-"menace" especially!
*i bought all 3 in widescreen for a

Just a question... did C-3PO have his golden skin at that point? I seem to recall a scene from TPM where he's only half finished in Annakins slave quarters... at what point is his mother freed and goes to live with Lars and Beru? Does she take the 'droid?

More relevant questions regarding C-3PO's flawed history might be...

New Hope, Scene#2 (first interior shot of Leia's ship) R2-D2 and C-3PO are walking along, followed by another, unnamed 3PO that turns right and heaRAB off down a different corridor...

(Okay, this is a Diplomatic ship, I'd expect more than one protocol 'droid)

Doesn't Annakin claim to be building him from scratch? When there are clearly other models, then surely he's being built from parts or a kit? And WHY would a 6-year-old slaveboy build a Protocol 'droid in the first place??

Another point... C-3PO tells Luke their (him and R2) last owner was Captain Antilles... any relation to Wedge Antilles (Dennis Lawson's character), who's supposed to be like the 3rd Musketeer to Luke and Biggs on Tatooine?

The answer to all these questions is, in fact... Star Wars was written as part of a series, but FILMED as a "one off" with as few loose enRAB as possible in case it flopped. Trying to re-invent history to accomodate the prequels is always going to be tricky, because 20 years later you've got millions of geeky fans prepared to go over every frame, line and character with a devotion bordering on religeous zeal... nobody can truly satisfy The Zealot. :D

Don't know if it's been asked, can't be arsed look through all the thread because i'm off the pub but...

In a new Hope,why does'nt Obi-Wan remember C3P0 or R2D2??
