Star Wars Empire At War CdKey?

i recently got the game star wars empire at war, i installed it with the cdkey that came with the game, but when i went to use it on the internet it said: 'CdKey authentication Failed, You must have a Valid CdKey', does anyone know how to fix this?
 
well ask yourself where did you get it? i mean it could be three things.

1. a server error and you have to call technical support
2. where you bought it from (or got it from some friend) they just used your cd-key and they can play whenever they want since they are the original owner.
3. someone hacked and stole your key.

i don't know take your pick kid.
