standard vga graphics adapter driver problem?

ok so I just installed diablo II and was going to upgrade to lord of destruction and decided to make sure my d2 was working fine because when i came to the graphics portion of the install is said no video modes found. then when i start diablo 2 it says error 22. i tried to update my drivers but it says best driver software is installed. please help me before i throw my computer down a flight of stairs. i have windows 7 ultimate btw
