Yes, shrrshrr please say why you didn't like it? I'm curious because I'm from the 80's (born in 1970) and I liked it from the moment it came out (I saw it in the theater and have since seen it just a few times, would love to go rent it tho.

I AM A TOTAL Billy/Wendy shipper!!!!!!!!!! I always felt like I could identify with Mare's character, actually I'm still alot like that and i still go for the Billy types!! lol LOVE THEM! I also love Ally Sheedy's character and Judd Nelson's I mean their relationship. She was so in love with him. And I LOVED Demi Moore's character I thought she was absolutely hilarious "my monster in law" I think she was the first to use that term? And I always thought Emilio Estevez was such a cutie. It was so funny how he had a crush on Andie MacDowell's character. I need to watch it again, I forgot their names in the movie. Still love the theme song even if it does sound quite dated!! Very 80's!!

I relate the most to Wendy and Kevin. Like Wendy, I'm the goody two shoes of the group, I still live with my mom and still get treated like a child. It doesn't help that I still look like I'm 17. Sometimes I just laugh because, while I don't really relate to all of her problems, I see myself as her.

Kevin... I'm probably a female version of Kevin in a lot ways. I'm considered the writer of the bunch and I'm a hopeless romantic. I hate smoking, though. Yuck!

I do have Billy's problem of trying to move on from college, but that's about it. I understand Leslie trying to deal with everyone thinking she's perfect and how she's afraid to screw up her life.

I have a few friends like Jules. I know guys like Alec and I've always been interested in working in Politics. Unlike Alec, I got an offer to work with a candidate for Mayor and I turned it down. Alec worked for a Senator so that does sound better than what I got.

Like Kirby, I'm planning to go to Law School, but I have doubts every so often.

So basically, I'm all of them (except Jules) broken up into a group of really confused people.

:sigh::lol:

What about you?

It's a rare love triangle that actually doesn't piss me off [minus the fact that Alec kept cheating on her], since she doesn't lead them both on. And that's just one of the reasons why I hate love triangles, lol. Of course I'm all about Kevin/Leslie, but I was also okay with the fact that she didn't end up with either of them. It's how she handled the situation that I really admired.

So I was rewatching this movie, and this quote is like epic to me:

"It's St. Elmo's Fire. Electric flashes of light that appear in dark skies out of nowhere. Sailors would guide entire journeys by it, but the joke was on them... there was no fire. There wasn't even a St. Elmo. They made it up. They made it up because they thought they needed it to keep them going when times got tough, just like you're making up all of this. We're all going through this. It's our time at the edge."

surprisingly, before seeing the movie... i thought he'd get together with demi's character (stupid trailer) and so i was shipping both their characters. i didn't know what i felt about the alec/leslie/kevin triangle other than surprise, really.

Haha, that song is so catchy. I was in a St Elmos Fire phase 2 years ago and the song would give me chills! Aw, how I love it.

The song wasn't written for the movie, but it fits so well.

That's where I got it from. :)

Exactly! I agree, Billy never realizes just what he's saying or doing when he's doing it. He has to wait til' the aftermath of the situation to have it click. Like the time he's coming on to Jules in her car, but she's telling him no, but he keeps insisting, til' she has to kick him out. When she tells him "You break my heart. But then again, you break everyone's heart.", the realization on Billy's face is so great. He's such a broken man in that moment.

I don't think he realized he had feelings for Wendy until then either. Just look at all those jealous looks he would send Howie after Wendy introduced them, so cute.

Wow, 5 bucks is also a great deal.

I always find something or someone I can relate to whenever I watch this...it's very bittersweet.

My Blockbuster doesn't have it, but yeah, you could probably find it for cheap in any DVD store.

Yes! It's so sad because he doesn't even realize what he's doing, but when he sees she's hurt, he backs down. He wasn't the smartest guy, or the most loyal guy, but you could see that he really cared about Wendy. He probably didn't even realize he liked her until she stopped talking to him.
