squeaking and popping noise coming from the left rear of the motor on 2004 toyota...

...corolla, what could it be? We have a squeaking and popping noise coming from the left rear of the engine that goes in speed with the rpm of the engine. It seems to be coming from the bottom area of the engine. I'm thinking maybe a bad bushing in the power steering unit or exhaust leak?? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
