Sprinting...... and weight?

Is it true that the bigger your muscle density is the faster you run? like... you know how all the olympic sprinters have big muscles and legs? unlike the long distance runners that are skinny? My height is 5'9 and i weigh 180 pounds. and im one of those guys that are beefy. im not fat, i dont got a belly, im beefy ya kno wut im saying? well anyways i consider myself as a fast person but i want to get faster. But should I lose weight to get skinny? or should I maintain my weight and gain more muscle density... ORRR should i gain more weight and maintain my beefyness?? Does having more weight allow more power in your body?
