Sprint--> when you upgrade your phone do you have to renew your contract?

Me my mom and my sister are all on a family plan at sprint, and we have another phone on the plane as like a house phone. I want a new phone and I have an upgrade coming up soon, but my mom wants to leave sprint once all of our contracts are up, which isn't until next year. I was wondering if you have to renew your contract in order to upgrade your phone....thanx a lot!
umm i never said the phone was going to be free...haha im not stupid, i just wanna know if i would have to agree to a new contract...some confusion as seen by the first answerer haha
 
Yes you will have to renew the contract UNLESS you pay full price for the phone. Most phones are about $300-400 without a contract.
 
If you upgrade your phone, you are agreeing to renew your contract. They are not going to give you a free phone and then let you out of your contract.
