Sprint training for ice hockey? Overtraining?

I'm 15 years old and I've heard that doing 200m-500m sprints is excellent to improve your speed/conditiong for hockey. I was on a track team a few years ago, and I did this stuff, so I'm familiar with it all. I'm just not sure if what I do is overtraining. My playoffs are coming up, and i want to be in the best shape of my life for these.
