Sprint G1000 Pocket PC phone can I use Boost Mobile?

I have a G1000 Pocket PC by Hitachi and Luv this old phone but Sprint is a bit to pricey and would like to use Boost Mobile. Is there a way to change the ESN # so I can get it to work on the Boost Network? I called Sprint and gave them my ESN number and they said they could activate the phone because the ESN number was not in use and the phone was good to go with the Sprint network. What do you think? is there a way to do this. Thanks
