[Sprint] Does every family phone need to have the same plan or can each be customized?

I am hoping to get an android phone with unlimited and messaging, but my parents do not use those features. They just need the phone to make calls.

Does Sprint allow each phone to have different plans or must all phones have the same features?
(sorry if this is a dumb question)
Sorry, the first sentence should be "...unlimited DATA and messaging..."
