Sports lense for Nikon D80..?

I have a Nikon D80. I love everything about it. I take pictures of sports mostly, or wild animals running. So I need a lense that will take good pictures, and not be blurry. I really don't want to break the bank though, but if that's what it takes...well you know.

First, blurry has to do with using too slow a shutter speed, not the lens

I shoot using a 400 mm f/2.8, but that would break most anyones bank.

Go into a camera store and see if you can find a good used 70-300 mm ED lens. They have an aperture ring so you can use it on almost any Nikon camera ever made. I use mine on an old F4 when shooting film.
