:jester:I have a grade II condition. I have pain and some nerve problems but one of my major issues is tiredness. I dont know whether it is the result of tense muscles, lurabar aches and nerve pain or whether it is my imagination. I am on my feet for most of the day but seem to be getting more and more tired at work.

I would like to prolong my working life and a fusion has been mooted.

I do take pain medication.

Does anyone else have this problem. I am 52.

Advice please.

Hi Chips, I was diagonized with listhesis grade 1 in March 2009. Before that I was working full time and caring for a household and I was exhausted every night. The tiredness I felt was an overall exhaustion. Couldn't do much more. By the 8 pm I would be in bed resting my aching body. My legs gave me the worst time. They ached so much I could cry. I also have a blown disc at L3-4 where the listhesis is. I got hurt in work and have never been the same. I am at home now full time and I get the much needed rest I need. Espescially in the afternoon. Is your story similair? By the way I am a 55 year old woman who was very active, went to dinners, danced etc. and I hate the way I feel now. I might decide to have surgery in the near future. Take care Linda

My God, yes a very similar story. I wonder whether I need to have surgery in order to save my job. I am now nearly bone-on-bone and although I hoped my vertebrae would fuse naturally they havent. My doctor has said implied that my sistuation will worsen. He said that it is better to have the op when still relatively young. Yet, other doctors have said there is no age limit.

I am bone on bone also. If I get the chance to rest, which I can do now that I am not working, my legs feel alot better. They were so bad when I was working that I couldn't even drive home due to the fact the hurt so much I might have an accident. My back problems have stopped my husband and me from doing anything at all. It really sucks because the one thing that might fix it all is a fusion. I was told I need a 360 fusion and the recovery time is 6 months to a year. I don't know if I'm ready for that yet but I know I don't want to be like this anymore. Good luck to us and keep in touch, Linda

Hi i also have spondy and although it took ten years to diagnose i have severe spinal stenosis also, iam tired after being up for a very short time i am doing much better since i have stopped working,i have applied for disability, because i have no other choice my dr.said i have chronic pain and it will only get worse.so i guess that must be a symtom of spondy being tired i mean, ive been up since 730am it is now 1030am and i could go back to bed right now.i was very active also and wonder if that might be the cause of some of this pain, ive noticed everyone that has spondy says how active they once were, well hope you feel better, and have a pain free day, marywoo

Hi Marywoo, thanks for your response. How are your legs? Do they get very achy and tired and weak too? That is the worst part for me. I had to stop working also and it helped my legs a lot. I do take naps or at least put my legs for at least 3 hours in the afternoon so I can continue at night. Was scheduled for surgery but I postponed it. The surgery terrifies me. But maybe I will have to have it this fall. Take care, Linda

Hi Linda,to answer your question, yes my legs are extremly painful, also my upper and lower back and now both arms and armpits.I look like frankenstein when i get up in the morning.my pain originated in my left leg, every time i told the dr. he said go to the gym, which just made the problem worse, then i was pushing children in wheelchairs, they were high school students ,and i got so sick,it never occured to me that i had an unstable spine.I kinda feel like my dr let me down because i was telling him for 10 years about my leg problems and finally he did an mri,10 years to late, but he is a very nice man and he is trying to make up for it,by managing my pain,i take morphine in the morning along with cyrabalta, hydocodone or roxicet for in between pain, lyrica and xanx at night.I use to only take vitimins but they do not cut the mustard with this kind of pain.as far as surgery goes it would be the last thing i would consider, because of the success rate which is 30% which does not work for me.i have alot of frienRAB who have had surgery and are much worse now,but everyone is different.i hope everything works out for you.Do you also have stenosis?that is also very painful. feel better. marywoo
