Hello. It's been since 6/14/07 that I last been on this board. Anyhow, I went through with my surgery for my spondy. My surgery date was June 20. I was under the knife for 9 hours . the next morning they had me stand up. i was surprised that i was able toget out of bed the next day, only to sit on a chair for 2 mins and then back in bed. I stayed in the hospital for 4 days. I was happy to leave. on my way home we were very careful riding slowly over bumps. the dr gave me sleeping pills, major pain killers, and pills to help any tweaking of the musscles. I'm happy to admit that I didn't have to take any of the medicine. Its truely amazing that I had NO pain what so ever!!! but if i sneezed, then that would be a different issue.
6 weeks after surgery I was able to drive. I was able to walk, and walk fast . I beleive my recovery was great and fast. 6 months after that I was able to jog. I even went back to work full time.
I dont have any nurabness nor tiggy feelings down my legs anymore. My muscle on my calves have restored their stregnth. Its as if, nothing ever went wrong. I always forget that I had the surgery too because I am feeling so better than ever.
I remeber how terrrified i was of surgery and scared of all the risks. however, ii was no longer able to walk and so i did it.
because my surgery went so well, I've been so active and busy to update. Which makes me remeber..... when I first came to this board. I read about 95% of negativity due to sugery. however, there was this one person who made a note stating that her surgery went well and that there is hope out there. Not all surgerys go bad. the reason why you dont see many possitive posts is because those people have had a succesful surgery and have forgotten how bad it was.
well, that is the same reason i've been gone too.
but i really want you all to know that not all back surgerys go bad and there is hope.
good luck to you all.
