Anyone out there living with grade 4?
I'm so afaird to have surgery, we have a 4 year old that we are raising. I'm in so much pain. I have no life.
 
Hi, angel i also have grade 4 spondy,iam 50 years old,and still cant beleave it or should i say i still cant accept it.my life is very limited,i really am watching everybody else live their lives through the window.i have done alot of research and i am left under the impression that most people end up in more pain then they started with,alot of problems are the adhesions,which is scar tissue that builRAB up and causes horrible pain.what kind of surgery are they suggesting for you a fusion,that seems to be the big thing now.I am on timed released morhine(advinza),lyrica,cyrabalta,oxycodone for breakthrough pain,xanx,wow i didnt ralize how much untill i seen it in print,but it has helped tremendlesly.i also have cevical disc disease,lumar spinal listhesis and severe spinal stenosis on bothe the left and right side worse on the left,some days i cant get out of bed,except to feed pets.how about you how has this effected your life,iam so sorry that you are going threw this,doesnt seem like nobody gets the kind of pain that your in?well sorry so long its dreary outside and i am having a pity party.LOL. feel beter,you are not alone. marywoo
 
I am feeling better, there is just alot of times I get on the pity party.
I am 54 years old and we adopted our Granddaughter when she was an infant and It drives me crazy not being able to run or takes walk with her.

They want to fuze and put two new disks in L4 and L5 cage and roRAB and screws. I guess its an 8 hr surgry and that worries me also.

Thank you so much for the response I need that. I'm allergic to so much medicine, I'm taking Lexapro and Neurontin and Oxcycodone for the pain. Some days it doesnt even touch it. I also have Periphial Nuropathy in both my feet. I am diabetic.

I, like you, have heard stories about the surgey that just keeps me plucking along.

I know all too well how active a four year old is. I have a 3 yr old AND a 4 yr old at home!!!!!! The two of them have more energy than I could ever imagine. I am "only" 36 and have already had 2 back surgeries. I have degenerative disc disease and a small bone spur. My L5-S1 disc had ruptured 2x, resulting in my two surgeries. Because the herniation was so large (largest my neurosurgeon had seen in his career), I am now left with permanent nerve damage. That gives me horrible pain EVERY SINGLE DAY. My back is very weak and the bone spur gives me pain too. I am doing everything I can to prevent my disc to herniate a 3rd time. If it does, I will need a fusion...something I really don't want.

So, I live in pain every day, while trying to raise a 3 and 4 yr old. I went through a huge period of depression and it has taken me almost a year to get to where I am today. I understand this is going to be with me for life and I am trying to make the best of things. Trust me, I still have lots of bad emotional days, but since starting my anti-depressant....things have improved.

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you I understand the concerns with raising a small child with back pain. IT STINKS!!
