Split lip? Like literally, in half?

So i split my lip yesterday, there was a lot of blood. I went to the doctor and he said i didnt need any stitches because even though it was really deep, it was staying together. I woke up today, and on one side of the cut its sort of puffy or idk swollen, and on the other side its just flat. Will it heal like this? I dont want half a puffy lip!!
