Hi! well my issue is a Spondylolisthesis L4/L5 grade 1 with a broken facet joint pinching my Sciatic nerve.

it first started when i was 13 I broke my ankle as a young child and it didn't heal right but it just gradually got worse and took a long time for the uk NHS hospitals to find the problem ok so in 2005 I had two surgery's which made ankle worse then soon after I had enough and went private hospital and they diagnosed it pretty quick but then they said it will cost

Well Bionic, I am 38, and a high school coach and a former competitive softball player. I played very hard until 36, with 8 different back operations to just keep me going but, had to have fusion 8 days ago, some how through the martial arts broke 5 bones in my back and had to have some of them removed too. I will be back to being athletic but don't know how much. Let you know.

Ok that would keep in touch so I know how you are and how your getting on thx for your reply!

Also before you get fusion done speak to a spinal surgeon called dr Martin knight at the spinal foundation heard good things about him am to going to try to see this surgeon before I result to fusion.

Keep in touch

And good luck!

I have had the fusion done already, however my doctor did study under Mr. Knight. Surgery went extremely well, and after 9 days I am pain free which is amazing. It is very strange not to have pain after 10 years of it.

So did you have the traditional fusion or was it ways that mr knights technique?
Also could you tell me you diagnosis and location on ur spine that was fused if can be detailed about condition and symptoms it be appreciated.

Ok that's great hope all goes well with recovery what was was the ERT on it! sorry estimated recovery time on the surgery!

Thx for keeping in touch!

Not sure if it was Dr. Knight technique, the hardware was aspen spinous process by lanx. And some special bone from eatontown,nj.
Recovery time, almost back to full strength day 10. Have to wait three months for complete fusion. I had spondy grade 2/3 DDD at L2 all the way to S1. A natural fusion at L3-L4. New fusion at L4-L5, had 5 broken bones in lower back, he remove 3 of them and saved spinous process to get hardware to fit. I have a ton of stuff with leg but don't think it's worth going over. After surgery my drop foot from 8 years came back to 60% from 20% and hoping to get some more. I have a 4" incision on the spinous process no muscle or tendons were cut. Hope that helps.
