yep, unfortunetly that IS kind of the rule of thurab. the thing here is,if you DO have very severe inflammation going on in there, it wont fuse either. the one time thing that my NS did when i just knew without a freaking doubt that inflammation up in my c spine area post fusion was just soo off the wall, he DID rx me a one time dose(that five? day course?) of the medrol dose pack just to get that crap down to a much duller roar, and it DID help tons too. when i asked him about the NSAID stuff and fusion, he said that one round of medrol would not actually 'do' anything with regarRAB to inpedding that end plate fusing and that having a constant inflammation going on up there was just as detrimental to me fusing. i would really just call your surgeons office at this point and tell them just how bad this is for you right now and what you should do for it. if this just IS very bad inflammation, thay can possibly help you,at least in SOME way. if your narcotics are not helping, then it is more than likely inflammation.
it never hurts to just call and ask your particular surgeon or his PA just what they do in this type of situation. you need some options here. every surgeon does not think the same when it comes to just about anything they do. but you DO need to let him know that you are suffering here and need some guidance as what to do. i would place a call asap to them and tell them just how bad this is and how much you really do feel IS inflammatory in nature. let them make the call on what they feel is appropriate(maybe even an Rx for toradol or something?). i do hope you get some good solid help with this. believe me,i do know how you are feeling with that. it just sucks to be there. hopefully they have a plan for this already in place. hang in there onyx, and let us know how you are doing. marcia
