SPIN exercise? 8 seconds sprinting and 12 seconds cycling?

This is where you start off by sprinting for 8 seconds and then cycling for 12 seconds, then back to sprinting for 8. This cycle goes on for 20 minutes at different paces. Does this actually make you lose fat and weight faster than continuous exercise?
