This might be obvious for most of you, but I’ve always found FTP to be quite slow. When uploading 3-5 files, why do I have to wait for them to upload one after the other? Well it turns out I don’t. I use FireFTP for ftp uploads which runs inside Firefox and I just found an option in its settings which enables simultaneous file transfers (up to 10 at a time).
Install it, and go to the addons page, find FireFTP, click on options and go to the connections tab. Set max simultaneous uploads to whatever you need and hey presto, you’ve just increased your ftp speed by a factor of 10. That may have been obvious, I just found it though so I’m enjoying my new found speed. If you have hundreds of files to upload, you’re better off zipping them and extracting them on the server if you can.
