it is often emphasized that the german people turned their heads and ignored the horror that was taking place around them. in face americans often point out that the german people should have stood up for their neighbors and friends when persecution began. the irony of this belief was that during world war II, preasident FDR authorized the removal of 120,000 japanese and japanese americans from the west coast of the us. about 110000 of these were sent to internment camps. many internees lost all their property. were the amercian people as guilty of ignoring their neighbors as the germans?
