Special education teachers...?

I am a 19/female currently attending college. I changed my mind on what my future career would be from English teacher to Special education teacher. I had wanted to be an English instructor for six years, but changed my mind (my senior year of high school). It started with tutoring high school students with learning disabilities and even though it was VERY challenging, I loved it! So, my questions are: 1. What ALL do I need to expect? 2. What have you learned from teaching special needs students? 3. How did you handle the stress? 4. What were the negatives & positives of helping them? 5. Are there any ways in which you feel rewarded? (Not only did I make friends, but they taught me so much about patience and strength.) Thank you for replies in advance & please, NO ignorant comments.
