I struggle waking up every morning when I wake up for work or just wake up early in general, even after a good night's sleep. I simply seem to really, really NOT be a morning person. I can go on less sleep and wake up just fine if it's a later morning hour, but if it's anytime before 7am (every M-F), it's very tough even with 8 hours of sleep. I've tried taking naps in the evening after work and I feel about the same. I'll feel more energetic right after my nap, and can still fall asleep fine, but in the morning I still feel awful. I literally feel like I had been drinking the night before and feel hungover. I definitely get a lot of vertigo.
I am noticing a pattern... I wake up when it's still dark outside.. and when I wake up later with the sun out, I feel a million times better. I am thinking about trying one of those special alarm clocks that gradually brighten up the room to mimic a sunrise. Has anyone tried one of these? Were they very helpful? Simply turning on the lights won't do the trick because it's the actual getting out of bed that I struggle with. I'll try setting my alarm earlier some days and I end up snoozing like crazy until the last minute and regretting it later on. I am also getting tempted to overdo it with the caffeine.
Any tips would be greatly appreciate!!
FYI, some background on me: My blood work is completely normal (I saw a doctor for being tired not long ago), I am healthy, I work out 5 days a week and am at a healthy weight for my height, I eat a healthy diet and try to avoid a lot of processed foods, I typically have 1-2 servings of caffeine a day, I tend to sleep through the night fine, I fall asleep quickly, do take birth control pill and Prozac (Prozac DOES make me tired, but I felt this way before too) - going off of them is not an option. Also, I've been waking up at the same time for about 10 years, so I am VERY used to this schedule.
