Speaking up to military leaders, and standing my ground.?

Just like the question says but i've heard my boss talking to his bosses and they said im nonconfrontational. I know exactly what i would say to them but i've also noticed that anyone who stood there ground against anything they did or said would be "Black Listed" such as they wont recconmend or approve me for awards and anytime the person messes up leadership pushes for the maxium punishment. so i just keep my mouth shut. i really just dont want them to have me in their cross-hairs cuz i need to support my family. decison decisions
