...do I solve this problem? I have a 1986 Dodge 600 2.2L (no turbo) 89,000km. The car has spark knock or pre-igniton. Not sure which. It every once in a while as you go to take off will knock a little then go away as you press the gas pedal. It only hapen at the idle to the point of first hitting the gas pedal then is completely gone.
I've read it could potentially cause engine damage. How do I solve this problem.
The plugs, wires & the distributor are all fine. I just had the engine timing and idle re calibrated. And had a check for vacuum leaks fixed @ the EGR valve (replaced) new o2 sensor.
So does anyone know how I can stop this from happening other than putting a higher octane gas in.
