Spam e-mail from my address to me, how do I report and stop it?

I've seen a bunch of questions like this. Most answer say it happens but not how to stop it. Some say to forward the e-mail to Yahoo but didn't give the e-mail to send it to. Has any one else had this problem and was able to resolve it with Yahoo?
 
Reporting it will serve no purpose. It probably happens thousands of times a day. There is no way Yahoo could research every source and even if the did unless it was from a Yahoo ID they could do nothing.

Anyone with a separate email program can use any name or address for the FROM address. I could change my name and address in seconds in Thunderbird to anything. It in no way indicates a problem. Spammers do it to keep mail from being returned to them. There is no way for you to stop it. You also can't mark it as spam or you block yourself.

When your address is the FROM address and mail is returned you will receive all the errors.
