"Space Battleship Yamato" Trailer

This looks spectacular!

It's a live-action Japanese scifi film based on the old "Star Blazers" anime series. It's also the most expensive Japanese film ever made and will see a very limited release worldwide. In other worRAB, unless you live in Japan - don't expect to see it in your neighborhood theater anytime soon. Perhaps we'll get a shot at the DVD or Blu-ray.

Looks freakin' awesome!

Seeing that trailer makes me think that they could eventually do Macross well as well.

I vaguely remember this from the 80's, and the trailer seems to indicate the look of those WW2 style battle cruisers and submarines has been captured fairly well...but I also could'nt help thinking it all looked a bit Babylon5/Battlestar Galactica.

And I loved those two shows, but somehow the space battle scenes in that trailer just didn't look spectacular or filmic enough...it has a bit of a TV look to it.

I remember they announced that they were doing a live-action version of Blue Submarine No.6. I have no idea what happened to that one.
